KALONG KENYAH - Exceptionally skilled traditional carving

PASA ALUT - long boat racing
PENAT AYAN - tug of war

NGELEPUT - blow pipe competition
MAKET ILAU - climbing a slippery pole to collect gifts at its top
TI PENGE'AE - carving wooden flowers using sharp small knife
ULENG - traditional garland made up of colourful manics
TAPUNG DA'A - headgear for men/boys with hornbill feathers
SEPUNGAN - headgear for girls/ladies made up colourful manics
BESUNUNG - chest and back vest made up animal skins decorated with hornbill feathers and colourful manics
ABET - traditional short trouser decorated with beautiful manics for boys/men
SELENG - rattan rings at hands and legs
KELAMBIT - traditional wooden shield decorated with carvings /drawings painted white/black/red/yellow with feature of face of a warrior - eyes, mouth, ears
KETENA - singing traditional songs
LEMALO - Applause loudly, a lengthy voice by men in poems
KETENA SEN - telling short Kenyah stories with moral values
NEPAP UJO' - clapping hands
MADUNG - Seated
NAKEJENG - stand up
MAKOI - Long Dance with specific Songs where everyone is holding part of a long rope making a circle, 360 degrees. Songs are prayers asking God for another fruitful harvest. Everyone is dressed in traditional costume and item can go on the whole night. Only a few know the songs with its deep literature features.

For the Kenyahs, music SAMBE', PENGELAM (Traditional dress) and all the KANJET (dances) are SACRED. Having connections with the ancestors, these need their permissions through PRAYERS.

In such an attire, the Kenyahs CANNOT perform other type of dances including the modern creative dances. There're more than 20 types of SAMBE' musics in the Kenyah Community ...specifically assigned for its purpose..check with the PKKS, Sarawak's National Kenyah Association.
